And now 4 With
- How did you get interested in advertising and specifically media planning?
I majored in accounting at the University of South Carolina and as soon as I took my first marketing class I fell in love with advertising. Actually, my professor in that first class later became a client of mine. I always liked and still like statistics, demographics and numbers. You could definitely say I am a numbers person.
- Who or what inspires you?
My family and particularly my children (Donovan, 15 and Hal, 11) inspire me. I see some of the things they face today and the decisions they have to make that we didnt have to make growing up. I admire them for the decisions they make.
- What do you think makes a media planner successful?
You have to look at the clients, see their target market and then determine the best way to reach that market, whether that is TV, radio, newspapers, Web sites or a combination of all of the above.
A good media planner has to know the client, the product and the target market. You also have to know the clients needs and expectations. A campaign is usually not successful if you dont hit the target audience.
- What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Spending time with my family and friends. We could be doing anything it really doesnt matter because they are happy and that makes me happy. I have simple needs.
