Semaphore News

Semaphore Wins Three PRSA Awards
Semaphore recently won three Silver Wing awards at the annual meeting of the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). A Silver Wing for Single Issue Newsletter was awarded for Crosswalk, a publication of the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina; a Silver Wing Award for External Web Sites was given for www.doingthemostgood.org, the Salvation Army Web Site; and a Silver Wing for Multimedia Communication-Annual Reports was awarded for Central Electric Cooperative's 2003 annual report on CD.

A Tradition of Teaching Children Well
Semaphore is pleased to announce our new association with the Thornwell Home and School for Children. Located in Clinton, SC, Thornwell provides a home for abused, abandoned, and/or neglected children as well as an excellent independent school for those children and day students from surrounding communities. Look for updates on our work with this client in future Semaphore News.

Columbia College
Columbia College has once again selected Semaphore to update and revise its student recruitment materials. "We've been delighted with the pieces Semaphore has produced for our recruiting campaigns in the past - from printed materials to campus videos to TV spots," said Sally Jenkins Harm, Columbia College director of public relations. "The pieces have certainly done the job for us, plus we've had fun in the process!" We have too, Sally!

Professional Service Firm Taps Semaphore to Develop Marketing Materials
Virginia L. "Ginger" Crocker recently completed state certification requirements to provide professional mediation services. She tapped Semaphore to develop a common creative direction for her practice's marketing tools. Once the creative direction is established, Semaphore will develop additional marketing materials (stationary, business cards, ads, direct mail, website) based on that direction. The result will be a communications system for the firm that is integrated by virtue of a common look and feel.

Semaphore Copywriter Seen in skirt!
Robbie Robertson, Semaphore senior copywriter, has been featured in the inaugural Columbia edition of skirt! magazine. In the "He's So Original" monthly feature, Robbie is profiled for his creative writing and ability to still pull off wearing a tennis skirt.

Blog
No, it's not a swamp, but folks have been known to get lost in them… blog is short for "web log." It's an on-line diary or frequently updated personal web page. Blogs are often used as a (positive or negative) public relations tool, providing an immediate portal to the web - introducing opinions, information, and misinformation about people, businesses, ideas, etc.

Semaphore is a premier full-service advertising, marketing, branding, public relations and Internet development firm.
