Co-op clients win top national honors
On May 17, four electric cooperatives from South Carolina won the highest honors for marketing and communications at the national convention for electric cooperatives, taking place now in San Antonio. Laurens Electric, Palmetto Electric, Mid-Carolina Electric and Berkeley Electric won awards of excellence for materials and campaigns produced with Semaphore. There were over 700 entries from across the nation in the "Spotlight on Excellence" awards. PEC, BEC and LEC combined won the highest honor in their category for their statewide efforts in the "Hole-in-One Shootout" golf fundraisers for charities. MCEC won the Award of Excellence for last year's Touchstone Energy Lexington County Sportsarama. LEC won Best Total Communication Program for their new logo design and campaign and are up for the "best in show" Edgar F. Chesnutt recognition. Stay tuned for the outcome!
Virtual Home of Blue Ridge Electric New and Improved
Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative tapped Semaphore for assistance in redesigning their website. Working with direction from Blue Ridge staffers, Semaphore added many new navigation items, content sections and a content management functionality to the Blue Ridge site, upgrading its look and feel and making it easier to use. Central SC Annual Report A Hit
The Central SC Alliance, a coalition of counties and cities dedicated to fostering economic development in Central South Carolina, called on Semaphore to produce its 2005 Annual Report. Working closely with Alliance staff, Semaphore produced an attractive 8 page piece in just 3 weeks - right on time for deployment at the Alliance's annual meeting on May 4th.
SCSU Announces Economic Impact/President Goes On Road
On April 27, South Carolina State University (SCSU) announced its economic impact upon the state and community of Orangeburg, SC. Semaphore assisted the University with its announcement by preparing remarks, designing an informative brochure and helping with press relations.
Also, in April, SCSU President Dr. Andrew Hugine, Jr. began the first of a series of speaking engagements at Rotary Clubs across South Carolina. Scheduled by Semaphore, these speaking engagements are intended to raise the profile of the University among the state business and government leaders. Dr. Hugine visited the Rotary Club of Florence on April 17th and will visit Clubs in Columbia, Greenville and Charleston in upcoming months.
2006 Women of Distinction Awards Has Semaphore Touch
Semaphore developed invitations, a response card and program for the Girl Scout Council of the Congaree Area's 13th Annual Women of Distinction Awards Dinner. Semaphore's logo design for the same event in 2005 was so popular that it was used in this year's creative.
Folks Attends Career Day
On March 1, Semaphore Associate Account Executive Andrew Folks visited his native Lancaster, SC and represented Semaphore in the University of South Carolina-Lancaster Career Day. Folks spoke with college and high school students about the careers and coursework available in the fields of marketing, advertising, and public relations. Semaphore is the first advertising agency to participate in the voluntary event.
LEC Gears up for Poker Run
Semaphore helped Laurens Electric with a logo tune-up for its Poker Run motorcycle tour fundraiser. All proceeds will benefit the newly established fund "Cooperative Caring" which will assist LEC customers who face difficulties in paying their utility bills. The Poker Run is Saturday, July 22.
