Semaphore Produces Op-Ed for the Power Team

Semaphore recently helped the South Carolina Power Team get published in a special issue of “Business Facilities” magazine on a tight deadline.

The South Carolina Power Team, comprised of Santee Cooper, the state’s electric generating and water utility, and 20 electric distribution cooperatives, is the state’s largest supplier of electric power to industry and the only statewide power system. It is also a full-service economic development organization.

As a “Business Facilities” sponsor and display advertiser, the Power Team was invited to submit an op-ed piece and photo for a special “South Carolina Focus” advertorial section of the magazine. However, Semaphore and the Power Team only had one day to write the material and submit it to the magazine.

Semaphore worked with Fred Gassaway, Executive Vice President for Marketing with the Power Team, to put together a 500-word op-ed piece that explains South Carolina’s certified sites program. Site certification ensures that a site is “shovel-ready,” saving industries time and money as they evaluate potential places to locate. A photo of the I-95 Gateway Industrial Park in Dillon County accompanies the op-ed.

The op-ed and photo will appear in the May issue of “Business Facilities.”

BLACKLIST - Are your emails getting bounced back at you all of the time? Go to

to enter your IP address into their verification fields and see if you're blacklisted. Most internet & email service providers use blacklists to protect the interests of their clients. A blacklist is usually a list of IP addresses or entire website domain addresses that have abused their World Wide Web privileges in the past. Most likely your email service provider has a blacklist that they use so that if anyone tries to email you from an IP address or domain name that is on their list then it will be blocked from ever getting to you. When a company randomly sends out unsolicited spam/junk emails they can be placed onto a blacklist. Getting off of a blacklist can be almost as difficult as cleaning up your social security number after you're an identity theft victim. Sometimes instead of placing one offending IP address on the list they will just place a large group of IP addresses on the list that are related.
